新苑藝術將於6月17日至7月24日,展出【卡莫的旅行–陳劭彥個展】。陳劭彥繼台灣美術新貌展後,連續受到2014南瀛獎、2015高雄獎的肯定。此次展名中的「卡莫」為英文CALM的諧音,在藝術家的生命經驗中,庸庸碌碌的城市生活終將引領我們憶起關於家的意象,那片祥和而寧靜的風景伴隨著從未消弭的溫度,在人生的行旅中促使我們不斷追尋自我真實的面貌。作品延續陳劭彥以往透過日常熟悉的題材表達出純粹的情感,藉由簡單純粹的配色、櫛比鱗次的線條,帶領觀者遊走於獨特視界中。
Galerie Grand Siècle will host the solo exhibition of Chen Shao-Yen, Calm Travel during June 17 to July 24. His paintings were consecutively awarded with Newly Emerging Artists in Taiwan in 2013, Nanying Award in 2014 and Kaohsiung Award in 2015. “卡莫” is traditional Chinese which sounds like Calm in English. The peaceful image of home is the ultimate inspiration acquired from the pre-occupied city life, and it unfolds the scenery in mind, tranquil and heart-warming. Life journal always reminds a traveler to continue seeking for the innate truth. In this exhibition, Chen Hsiao-Yen draws out pure emotions from accustomed daily subjects by shades and crisscross of black and white lines, expecting to bring audience wander over in his vision.

「當世界安靜時,細微處就醒了。卡莫(Calm),來自旅行中的觀看與感受。在移動的過程中,最美的時候都是快要看到下一步的時候。家鄉,絕對是最強的感受性之一,因為看到的不是風景,而是自己的樣子。近年在外當兵、退伍、工作的移動過程中漸漸吸引我的,反而是家鄉的芒草、產業道路、山上的樹叢等。回到我的成長經驗,總是有個溫度在那裡,那種溫度是沒有包裝,裸露的存在。繪畫在解剖這些時間表層下,釋放那依然存在的溫度。」
“When the world is silent, subtlety gets awakening.” Calmness is aroused from viewing experience and perception of travel. In the moving process, the most graceful moment is when the next scenery is going to be unfolded. Hometown is definitely the place drawing out the most intensive sentiments of mine because what stages in front of me is the past, not the real scenes. During the moving courses from my military service, retirement from army and the paths for works, I am most attracted by the miscanthus, industrial roads near my home, and the thickets on the mountain. Throughout the growing experience, I was always treated with warmth, mot deliberate but utterly straight and true. For me, painting is the job of dissecting time and unearthing the warmth under.

陳劭彥將色彩與線條剝離形體本身,聚焦於對象物之間的「間隙」,結合過去從事3D電腦動畫的經驗,熟稔地轉換線結構與面結構的繪畫模式,創造獨樹一格的觀看視角。他以時光片段的形式紀錄了日常時間狀態,藉此釋放成長經驗中的溫度,而溫度作為對家鄉的情感,亦回應了繪畫之於真實的體現。在大量留白的畫布空間中,建構豐富多變的層次與空間,塑造出敏銳的視覺凝聚力。
Chen Hsiao-yen makes colors disengaged from objects to entirely concentrate the focus on gaps among objects. His proficiency in shifting the perspectives of dot and surface learned from the experience of making 3D animation enriches his style and makes it established. He re-presents segments of time to store the status of certain moments; meanwhile, the uncovered warmth in memory echoes the pursuit of truth in painting. Layers and segmented spaces interlaced in the canvas with many blank areas can shape multi-variate state of visual impression and sharpen the focus of beholders.
